The most remote and inaccessible history embraces the daily rituality in a smoking set which holds a rare Mammoth tusk fossil, completely different from the more common version in ivory colour, on a mirror polished solid brass tray. Past and present coexist through an extraordinary requalification of the material, artisanally glazed to preserve its integrity as well as its dark color, the result of 10,000 years of immersion in salt water. The ashtray and the cigar cutter are covered with smaller fragments of the same precious material, individually screwed to ensure their perfect adhesion, the two supports are intended for matches and cedar battens for the lighting of the cigar.

La zanna di mammut utilizzata per la manifattura di questo oggetto è materiale delicato e molto fragile. Inoltre, nonostante il suo invecchiamento risalga a oltre diecimila anni fa, il materiale rimane ancora molto sensibile ai cambiamenti di umidità e temperatura. Per evitare rotture e fessurazioni è importante conservare l'oggetto in condizioni stabili evitandogli sbalzi repentini di condizioni climatiche. La pulizia deve avvenire a secco risparmiando l'uso di alcun prodotto liquido. La pelle impiegata per la manifattura di questo oggetto è piuttosto robusta e non presenta particolari problemi di manutenzione. All’occorrenza può essere curata con un balsamo nutriente.

The mammoth tusk employed for the manufacturing of this object is a delicate and very fragile material. Moreover, despite its ageing process dating back to over ten thousand years ago, the material still remains highly sensitive to humidity and temperature changes. To avoid breaking and cracking it is important to keep the object in a stable condition, avoiding sudden climate changes. Cleaning must be done dry, avoiding the use of any liquid product. The leather employed for the manufacturing of this object is rather sturdy and does not have particular maintenance issues. If required, it may be taken care of with a nourishing balm.
